METHODOLOGY~
Healing and understanding the root of our wounds is a multi-faceted process, with all aspects being interconnected.
My approach to therapy follows an existential-humanist perspective, that utilizes a person-centered and mindfulness-based therapeutic framework.
I am passionate about working with all of the complexities that make up your experience. In my practice, you can expect there to be an integration of the mind and the body. The mind can influence the body through thoughts, emotions, and mental states, and this can manifest in the body and reflect and store these experiences.
In my practice, integration involves engaging both conscious and unconscious thought processes, with an emphasis on self-reflection and introspection, while also connecting these with the body on a somatic level to release stored tension and regulate the nervous system.
Ultimately, the goal is to address the mind, body, and spirit as a unified whole, applying both "top-down and bottom-up approaches."
What does this mean for you?
We are all unique beings that go through complex experiences. I stride to counsel with the awareness and understanding that with each unique life circumstance comes with a unique approach that must be adapted for you. Therefore, my overall approach is to remain open and adaptable to be able to connect and understand you. Our experiences, shape our identities and affect how we interact with ourselves and others. My intention is to deeply attune and listen to you and your experiences. Together, we can learn about you and identify where you may be, in your healing process. Whether you find yourself in a reflective headspace, needing to verbalize and explore your thoughts, or struggling to articulate your experience and benefit more from understanding what’s happening in your body, together, we will work to discover where you are in your process and explore.
MODALITIES IN DETAIL:
-
A therapeutic orientation that combines elements of existential philosophy (freedom and responsibility, meaning making, authenticity) and humanistic psychology (considering the individual as a whole: holism, free will and self-actualization). Existential therapy is rooted in philosophies that explore the nature of existence, focusing on key human concerns like freedom, meaning, isolation, suffering, and mortality.
This therapy often attracts individuals facing existential crises—situations that challenge their sense of identity, purpose, or security. These crises may stem from physical, social, emotional, or spiritual threats and can shake deeply held beliefs or values. Existential therapy views such moments as both unsettling and transformative, offering opportunities for personal growth and deeper understanding as we navigate life’s constant changes.
